- In any hand with a Jack, unless the hand is already a winner! – four to an open-ended Straight, four into a Flush or 3 to a Straight Flush or Royal Flush – refuse all cards only keeping the Jack
- In any hand with only one card Jack or better, retain the single great card and reject all other cards and redraw.
- In any hand holding 1 pair less than than Jacks, preserve the pair and reject all other cards – unless the hand is 4 to some Straight or four to some Flush
- In any hand having a two-pair, keep both pair and reject the odd-card.
- In any hand with 3-of-a-kind maintain the three-of-a-kind and refuse the other 2 cards.
- In any hand holding 4 to a Straight, preserve all 4 Straight cards and re-draw – unless of course the Straight draw is not open-ended and the hand is holding a Jack)
- In any hand with four with a Flush, maintain the four Flush – unless of course the hand holds 3 to the Royal in which case you would draw to the Royal Flush
- In any hand holding four-of-a-kind, hold anything since a one-card draw will not improve the cards.
- In any hand with three to some Royal Flush, reject anything else and go for the Royal – unless of course the hand is already a Sraight Flush!
