Video Poker is a favored game that can be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your personal computer, through a net account. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the highest mixture of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to choose the most money-making ones each instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Additionally, several styles of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
